“It is plain and simple. The idea of giving to OSU is as natural as taking a breath of fresh air. As I reflect upon my student years at Oklahoma State University from 1966-72, certain memories fondly come to mind: a university president who always spoke with a friendly and genuine “How are you?” although I was just an unknown student --- one of thousands on campus; a political science professor who took time to meet with me on a Saturday morning to listen to my misplaced doubts about the prospects of employment nearing graduation as a senior; a philosophy  professor who challenged me to excel in presenting my thoughts and ideas. The common thread of these memories weaves a tapestry of caring concern for a student’s welfare. These educators took a personal interest in me and my future success as a graduate of OSU.

During these years at OSU I couldn’t afford to pay for my college education and associated living expenses without benefit of financial assistance from OSU. Every year university staff either found me part-time jobs, helped to secure a Lou Wentz loan or provided me a teaching assistant position in graduate school. In short, OSU “Cowboyed Up” as my partner along the journey toward completing my two degrees there.

Consequently, I look upon financial giving to OSU as a rare opportunity to pass along to future students a chance to experience the personal touch which I experienced thirty to forty years ago. I am grateful to return a gift to the university which supported and gave me direction in preparation for the rest of my life. It’s only fitting, isn’t it? It’s the right thing to do. Thank you OSU!”
