My gift to the College of Education was fulfillment of a personal goal I had to give back to the future educators on behalf of those who came before and remain undervalued in salary - our hard working teachers. The OSU College of Education produces excellent graduates who are sought-after within the state, and we owe it to the program to expand that reputation to the entire country. While I was not directly seeking to be in the teaching profession, I was lucky enough to spend my time among those aspiring to be professional educators. By giving to the college, we are providing the tools, facilities, and faculty needed to continue developing the best program and outcome possible.
So often the perception is that our college cannot generate the types of gifts seen in other colleges at the university. And although in general that is correct due to society not compensating our educators appropriately, there are many graduates who followed other paths, as I did. My hope and desire is to demonstrate to all alumni in the College of Education that we can be as financially supportive as other colleges, but not without help from everyone. We have the leadership, strong desire, a superior program, outstanding students, and proud alumni to achieve our financial goals. Stop contemplating that donation and assist our COE leadership in obtaining the support necessary to lead our educators into the future!!
