Richard L. Boger,
OSU Friend and Son of Former OSU President, Lawrence L. Boger
When my father, Lawrence L. Boger, was appointed OSU’s fourteenth president in 1977, I was officially introduced to the university. Over the next 11 years during his presidency, and in the many years thereafter, I have had the opportunity to observe firsthand the importance of private annual and deferred giving to the growth and prosperity of a diverse university such as OSU. State support and research grants, as important as they are to a state university, only go so far toward its progress.
The legacy of any university ultimately rests with the quality and number of its graduates and the reputation of its faculty. Facilities and endowments foster the environment where excellence is nurtured and grow. Funds for those purposes come largely from private gifts. Our family has elected to focus our giving in two areas: scholarships and faculty endowment. We believe that by helping to underwrite the finances for students and faculty, the long-term result will be an improved educational experience and enhanced legacy of Oklahoma State University.
We are pleased that, through the management, investment oversight and administration of the OSU Foundation, these funds will be leveraged for many years to come. We greatly appreciate being a part of this effort.
