My husband and I used to believe that a philanthropist was someone who could financially donate large sums of money to a given cause or charity due to his or her being wealthy. We no longer believe this! A philanthropist is someone who wants to make a better world for future generations by giving either of his or her time, talent or money. At various stages in ones life, he or she may be capable of giving more of either one. We are motivated to give to OSU not only because we wish to support and give back to our alma mater, but also because of the friends and relationships we have developed through the years as students and later as alumni. We also want to be role models for our children and grandchildren that they too can make a difference, and leave a legacy in the world in which we live.
