Ann Marie Brown ’81 & ‘83

I was born in Stillwater, Oklahoma when my father was attending school at OSU.  I was six months old when he graduated and we moved to Missouri, then on to California, then to Georgia, a short stent back to Missouri then back to Georgia.  My parents, both born and raised in Oklahoma, moved back to Oklahoma my senior year in high school.  Once I graduated from high school, I decided to return to Oklahoma to attend Oklahoma State University (OSU).  This was my first trip to Stillwater since we left there in 1959.

I arrived with all my belongings in August of 1977 to move into Bennett Hall.  I loved attending OSU so much I stayed and earned my masters degree.  I received a great education graduating with a Bachelor of Science (1981) and Master of Arts (1983) degrees in Speech Communications Consultancy.  I met so many great people at OSU and even though I live in Atlanta, Georgia, I still keep up with numerous folks from my college days.

While many of my extended family has graduated from OSU, I have three brothers who graduated OSU after me.  We definitely bleed orange in my family.

OSU is a special community where outstanding education and warm, friendly people come together to learn, laugh, celebrate, mature, grow, as well as build lasting relationships and create memories that we carry with us the rest of our lives.  There is a unique camaraderie when you meet OSU alumni especially when you are outside of Oklahoma.  In Atlanta, it is always a thrill to come across an OSU alumnus.  I look forward to working with the OSU Atlanta Alumni Chapter to rebuild our presence here.

Why do I give?  Because OSU is a part of me.  I am a lifetime member of the OSU Alumni Association and wanted to make that commitment so I would never loose touch with my connection to OSU.
