Dear Sir or Madam:

Let me begin by stating that my family and I did not grow up in Oklahoma, nor did we have any previous ties to the state or to Oklahoma State University (OSU). When my job brought us to Oklahoma in 2002, my oldest daughter, Luisa, was a high school freshman. When it came time for her to consider her college options, one school she chose to visit was OSU.

The day of her visit provided an insight to the future. While she concentrated on her areas of interest, I listened intently to the speakers and staff. My impression was that these people were genuinely friendly, not phony "salesmen" trying to convince us to send our daughter to school there because it improved their job security. I questioned some statements I heard and pointed out areas of concern. I received prompt, candid replies. The staff did not try to deny or gloss over my concerns. I felt I could contact them with questions, which I did on a regular basis, and get an honest answer. I never waited more than 24 hours for a response, even if I contacted the Office of the President, which I did on one occassion.

Luisa enrolled at OSU, thus beginning a relationship with this university. As I learned more about OSU, I became more and more convinced that she had made a good choice. OSU is providing the type of education that I had hoped it would: Luisa has been exposed to new viewpoints and ideas, she has had to take on new challenges and she is preparing for her future.

I have learned of the role that OSU plays in improving the quality of life of Oklahomans. In my profession as a U. S. Park Ranger, I have received training from OSU programs. I have contacted the OSU Extension Office for advice. My wife and I have attended cultural events on campus. OSU has become an important part of our lives beyond the fact that Luisa is a student there.

Therefore, I have donated money to the Veterinary School's "Brittany Fund", the Wheelchair Basketball program, the Friends of the OSU Library, the Equestrian Team and other programs that match my interests and values. I am pleased to be associated with the university as a parent and a friend and intend to continue the relationship in the future.

Sincerely,

Luis O. Krug
