Our goal: $200 million

It was support for faculty that gave Branding Success its thunderous start. In a span of just six weeks, donors gave an astonishing $168 million (matched by $168 million in public funds) for endowed chairs and professorships. The surge of gifts, triggered by a $100 million gift-matching challenge from OSU alumnus T. Boone Pickens, increases the number of endowed chairs at OSU by more than 106, to a total surpassing 266.

Endowed professorships and chairs are the highest academic designations, made possible by support for faculty salary, graduate assistantships, equipment and research needs. Endowed positions will enable OSU to continue attracting and retaining the best and the brightest academic minds in the world—like OSU physicist Girish Agarwal, elected to the Fellowship of The Royal Society, one of the highest honors in science.

Faculty Giving Opportunities

• Deanship – an endowed dean’s position can be established at the $5 million minimum.
• Distinguished Chair – an endowed faculty position awarded to a distinguished lecturing or research faculty established at the $1 million minimum.
• Chair - an honor bestowed to elite faculty members by the university established at the $500,000 minimum.
• Professorship - a named professorship recognizing distinguished faculty established at the $250,000 minimum.
• Lectureship - held by a faculty member who has demonstrated exceptional teaching skills and insightful knowledge of a particular subject matter established at the $100,000 minimum.
