OSU-OKC Nursing Program Receives Generous Grant

Oklahoma State University-Oklahoma City’s nurse science program has received a $100,000 grant from the Inasmuch Foundation that will assist OSU-OKC’s program in providing the finest healthcare professionals to our community. The funds will go toward the purchase of an additional human patient simulator and associated technical support upgrades in the Nursing Skills Laboratory. Human patient simulators allow students to have real-life learning experiences in the skills lab.

“We are thrilled to receive this generous grant from the Inasmuch Foundation,” said Linda Barren, OSU-OKC Health Services Division head. “This grant will provide an additional human patient simulator and related simulation equipment for the nearly 300 students enrolled in our nursing program. This additional human patient simulator will give the students more practice time in the skills lab which better prepares them to care for patients in the clinical setting.”

During the last 40 years, the OSU-OKC nurse science associate degree program has graduated more than 3,000 students prepared to take the national licensure examination and become registered nurses, while also nearly tripling its graduation rate over the past five years in response to the nursing shortage.
